A Tabletop Sunday

game

Yesterday, I met up with two friends and had a fun afternoon. We had a fantastically hearty (and fatty!) lunch of fish n’ chips and then for dessert we had sweet drinks like milk tea and milkshakes and tabletop games. Now, I’m not really a person who plays tabletop games a lot but I had fun with the two games my friends brought. The one in the picture up there is called Gobblet and it’s basically like tic-tac-toe  but a bit more complicated as you have to complete a row by using four game pieces and it’s actually possible to defend pieces or “eat” them by covering up your own or your opponent’s pieces. Of course there’s some strategy involved and it took a while but I was actually able to win a game. 😀

The other game was called Flirt and it’s a card game. The link will lead you to a better explanation of the game than any effort of mine will yield. What you need to do in Flirt is to be able to steal another player’s set of three heart cards. Funny how that sentence sounds because you are really playing this game to win some hearts. The game’s premise is about romantic relationships and how your stats (charm, intelligence and wealth) are able to win over the other person’s heart(s). The game makers say it is appropriate for players 13 years old and above and I guess it makes sense. You’ll really only be able to appreciate the game if you’ve ever had romantic feelings for someone else and that age is just about right.

So that was a lot of fun. 😀 Hopefully I’ll be able to get together with those set of friends again soon so we could play some more. Maybe on January and we’d invite more friends to join us.

7 Days into December

Hi everyone!

Yes, I’m back for a bit. Hopefully I’ll be back more often because there’s a conspiracy going on and I am getting so many followers! I don’t know how this happened and why but I would like to thank all of you anyway. Hopefully my blog is doing something positive for those of you who decided to go ahead and follow me.

BUT ANYWAY! So it’s December. Christmas month and also my brother and my birthday months. The other day I was looking at my planner and couldn’t believe how filled up it is! Suddenly I’m so popular and social, haha. But there’s just something that pumps me up during the holiday season. I actually look forward to parties and such and I also feel kind of more generous. It’s the season of giving and receiving after all so maybe that’s it.

I’ve been caught in the flurry of holiday preparations the past week, both at work and at home. I’ve been labeling envelopes and mailing cards for my boss and other members of our group. There’s plans of me doing a bit of shopping to prepare gifts for the people who have been very helpful to us for the past year. It all kind of makes me feel frantic but also a bit excited. Gifts are always fun to shop for for me. Hopefully the shopping all goes well.

Meanwhile, I’ve been more enthusiastic about my own gifts and giveaways this year. I haven’t offered out to write for people this year but I’ve been sending and receiving actual letters recently so I got hit with the idea to send out Christmas cards of my own. I’ve managed to send all of them out this past week and I’m happy to find out that one of my cards have been received! It’s amazing because I only put down my cards for ordinary mail and it usually takes the upwards of two weeks for ordinary mail to get to their recipients. Even my university got into the spirit of sending cards:

And yes, that is a birthday card. I am about to have my birthday soon, which explains my popularity according to a friend of mine, haha. The card made me so happy I actually also sent them a card back. 😀 Who knows, maybe they’ll give me a gift next time. 😉

Gifts. I’ve been going around getting gifts for people and I enjoy most every trip. I like trying my best at getting people gifts that they would actually like and use. So far, I think I’ve got a success rate of about 70%. I’ve got a story for you about giving gifts but that would have to wait until the next entry!

Happy weekend everyone! I hope you’re all enjoying it.

And the Christmas Season Starts

This was where I was last night! A benefit concert for one of our most popular churches here in Manila. As you can see, most everyone was on the dance floor, dancing their butts off. At this time, I was taking a breather because the band didn’t cease playing for one whole set which was an hour long each and there were two sets! Most of the time, though, I was singing and dancing along. It was hard to resist since most everyone was doing it. It was awesome.

The Christmas season has started and things are going to get crazy busy again. Already my calendar is being filled up with get togethers and parties. This is pretty normal this time of year and I actually can’t wait because it’s a chance to see people I haven’t seen in a while and to eat lots of good food.

It’s the end of November and so another round of NaBloPoMo ends. Thank you all so much for following, commenting and reading. I think I’ve missed some people and I’m really sorry about that but please trust that I read and received your comments. I hope you’ll still stick around even after November and I hope you all enjoy the coming holidays.

Christmas Cards!

This was what I was busy with today. No, I didn’t make that, haha. I wish! But I was labeling Christmas cards to send out. It’s for work and I’ve still got a number to go through but I’m not complaining. It’s fun and I get to see the different designs that we have. They’re all handmade like this and you really have to admire the perseverance of some people with their craft.

Christmas is Just Around the Corner

Despite recent tragedy caused by Typhoon Yolanda, it still cannot be denied that Christmas is almost here. The Christmas decorations have started coming out and Christmas songs are playing on the radio. At work, my boss is already compiling a list of people the group is going to send gifts to and as for me, I’m already thinking of what to get my family and friends.

A lot of people seem to be united under the idea to keep it simple with respect to what has happened in Central Philippines and I couldn’t agree more, though I have to admit that I also wish to keep it simple due to my financial situation. Unfortunately, that operation from last month was a huge drain on my finances so things are going to be very simple this year. Still, despite the lack of money to blow on gifts, I want to make a special effort since it’s the holidays after all and one can give without spending so much. So I’m here, brainstorming.

Hopefully something good comes out of it, haha.

Being Almost Creepy and Admittedly Enthusiastic

I was riding the jeepney on the way home. It passed by my high school and I was boggled by the sight of a huge pile of donations in the front lobby. Now, it was easy enough to spot the pile as the lobby could be easily seen from outside but really, it’s still kind of mind boggling. You’d only really appreciate it when you see it firsthand. I wanted to take a picture but I was on the jeepney and I thought they might find it creepy if I did. Because you know. There were students there and there I would have been, an outsider (an alumna, but still an outsider!), taking pictures. Creepy, right? Maybe I can try again tomorrow, haha. I’ll ask permission and all that.

There’s a grocery between my house and my high school so I took the time to look at the prices of the things that I’m planning to donate. If all goes well, I’ll have stuff ready for delivery by tomorrow night. I still find all this pretty exciting, if you can’t tell. 😀 I’m just really hoping that all this help will be able to get to the devastated areas soon. I also hope the government gets its act together because even if we’ve got a lot to give but there’s no way to get them to the people they’re supposed to be for, then we’ve still got nothing.

Meanwhile, in more personal news, I got a letter today! 😀 Finally! I have been waiting for this letter for a while now and now it’s here!

I have received three letters in total for last month’s National Letter Writing Day after sending some of my own. Pretty cool. ❤ Ah, to write letters again. How I’ve missed doing it. Will write more letters soon. ❤
